What the Crop Image tool does

Cropping cuts an image down to a smaller rectangular area, discarding everything outside the selection. Unlike resizing, which scales the whole picture, cropping removes unwanted edges, tightens a composition, or pulls out just the part of a photo you actually need.

How it works

After you upload an image, a movable, resizable selection box appears over it with handles on every side and corner, so you can freely shape the crop area to any size or ratio — there are no fixed presets forcing a particular shape. Rotate the image in 90° steps, zoom in to frame tighter, or switch to Move to drag the image underneath a fixed box. Preview shows exactly what you'll get before you commit; Crop renders only the pixels inside the box onto a new canvas at their full original resolution, and Download saves that result.

How to use it

1. Upload the image you want to crop.
2. Drag any handle — corner or edge — to shape the selection freely, or drag inside the box to reposition it.
3. Use Rotate, Zoom and Move to line up the image, and Reset if you want to start over.
4. Press Preview to check the framing, then Crop, then Download.

Formats and quality

Works with JPG, PNG and WebP. Because cropping doesn't re-encode or resample the kept pixels, there's no quality loss from the crop itself — the exported region is as sharp as the source image, at zoom levels up to 100% source resolution.

Crop is the go-to tool for turning a landscape photo into a square profile picture, removing a distracting background element, straightening a tilted photo before tightening the composition, or pulling a single product out of a group photo for a listing image.
