What the PDF Split tool does
PDF Split breaks a single PDF apart in one of two ways: pulling out a specific page range as a new, smaller PDF, or breaking every page into its own individual PDF file, bundled into a ZIP for download. It's the reverse of merging — useful when a document is bigger than you need, or when each page needs to stand alone.
How it works
After the PDF is read in your browser and its page count detected, the tool copies just the pages you select into a fresh document (for a range) or into a series of single-page documents (for the "every page" option). Nothing is rasterized or recompressed in the process, so quality matches the source exactly.
How to use it
- Upload the PDF you want to split.
- Choose Page range for a subset of pages, or Every page for a full breakdown.
- For a range, enter the first and last page numbers to keep.
- Press the split button — a range downloads as one PDF, "every page" downloads as a ZIP.
Formats and file size
Input is a single PDF; output is either one PDF (range mode) or a ZIP archive containing one PDF per page (every-page mode). File sizes scale roughly with how much of the original you keep — a five-page extract from a fifty-page report will be close to a tenth of the size.
Common use cases
Great for sending just one chapter from a longer document, pulling a single signed page out of a scanned contract, separating a multi-page scan into individual files for filing, or trimming an unnecessary cover page or appendix before sharing a PDF.
